Flower Power!

Wow! Look how the flowers have slurped up the coloured water. You can see lines that we compared to our veins in their petals. The food colouring Mrs Wilson brought from home worked much better and produced a stronger colour for the red but not as vivid as the blue... Now we are wondering about how diluted the liquids were because they have different amounts of water. Lots of great scientific conversations and wonderings!! :)

Our New World Visit

It was great to be able to visit New World and practice our label reading skills in a real-life setting.  Our educator Nova was fantastic both at school and with us at New World - we've all learnt lots and it's now up to us whether we take on this learning and choose to live healthy lives.

 Huge thanks to Rachelle (Matt's mum), Faith (Robbie's mum), Petra (Jacob's mum) and Kirsty (Charlotte's mum) for coming with us to support us there.

We spent about an hour identifying healthy and unhealthy options for five different groups of foods. Knowing the healthy levels for sugars, fats, energy, calcium and dietary fibre AND not getting tricked by the packaging meant we are better equipped to make healthy choices, yay.

We were all given a snack box container by one of the New World staff - we had to be able to name one healthy choice and one unhealthy choice.  Wow - thanks!
